AIG’s Lillelund joining Allianz Commercial and AGCS as CEO
Third leader of Allianz units in 12 months
Thomas Lillelund, AIG’s head of Europe, Middle East and Africa, has been named as the third CEO of Allianz Commercial and Allianz Global Corporate & Commercial (AGCS) in less than a year.
Lillelund will take over the vacant position early in 2025 after he fulfils his existing commitments with AIG.
The roles were vacated by Allianz veteran Petros Papanikolaou in September, after he was named executive director of group strategic initiatives just eight months after taking the helm from Joachim Müller.
Allianz board member Chris Townsend, who is also chairman of the supervisory board, is filling in as CEO of Allianz Commercial and AGCS.
Allianz Commercial is the integrated unit that serves mid corporate, large corporate and specialty customer under one brand name. AGCS still operates as a legal entity within Allianz Commercial.
Dane Lillelund has more than 25 years in the insurance industry. Prior to his current role at AIG, he worked for Aspen Re, Gen Re and Swiss Re.
“I’m delighted to welcome Thomas to Allianz. He is known for driving profitable growth, for building cultures focused on clients and underwriting integrity, and for developing high-performing teams. I’m looking forward to working with him and the talented team at Allianz Commercial to further drive our integrated approach for large corporate, mid corporate, and specialty customers worldwide,” said Townsend.
