Airmic to hold tech forum in May

The UK’s risk management association Airmic is to hold a livestreamed technology forum on 13 May, to examine how the pandemic has driven technological transformation.

The event is the first in a series of technical forums dedicated to topical risk issues, which will also include climate change and geopolitics as well as technology.

The agenda includes a Q&A session with Julian David, the chief executive of techUK, the trade association for digital technology; and a presentation of digital risk case studies from Sam Moore, the head of key clients and strategy for UK commercial lines at Aviva, the main sponsor of the event.

A panel moderated by Airmic deputy chief executive and technical director Julia Graham will debate the rise of ransomware, including data that shows ransomware demands have spiked by more than 300% during the last year.

Meanwhile Airmic’s market development manager Alex Frost will moderate a panel debate on closing the gap in technology and digital resilience, which has been widened by an increasing dependency on third-party IT suppliers and service providers.

The future of work in light of pandemic-led transformations of the workplace is another subject under discussion, along with a ‘future-gazing’ session titled ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’.

The final session of the day will be presented by the chief executive of risk software provider Riskonnect, Jim Wetekamp, on emerging digital risks and the changing role of risk professionals.
