Anra, Ferma and Belrim to host virus webinars as Narim and Sirm postpone meetings

Italian risk management association Anra is holding its second webinar on how to cope with the impact of the current coronavirus pandemic and will this time focus on the longer-term impacts and what companies need to plan for when the lockdown is finally lifted. The Italian-language discussion takes place on the morning of 9 April and will be followed by a second discussion held in partnership with Ferma that involves Italian, French and Belgian risk managers and management consultancy Mckinsey. The Ferma discussion is entitled: 'How to manage and emerge stronger from the Covid-19 crisis: The European experience from risk managers’ perspective'. The discussion starts at 11:00 CET and will last 50 minutes, with a question-and-answer session of roughly 15 minutes. Speakers for this English-language session will be: Gaetan Lefèvre, group risk, insurance and ethics manager at CMI in Belgium and Ferma board member; Alessandro De Felice, president of Anra and chief risk officer at Prysmian Group; François Beaume, vice-president, risks and insurance at Sonepar and in charge of the Covid-19 taskforce at French risk management association AMRAE; one additional speaker from Mckinsey to be confirmed. “Three risk managers from different backgrounds and sectors will discuss how they are currently managing the crisis of Covid-19. They will cover different aspects of business, providing insight into the risks and disruption in the wake of Covid-19, and assess how organisations of all sizes can successfully manage the challenges,” said Ferma. To register for this discussion, click here. Anra’s Italian-language webinar is entitled: 'Risks of survival: Italy and its enterprises after Covid-19'. Members and the wider Italian market are invited to sign up at the Anra website for the discussion, which starts at 9.15am. Anra pointed out that in recent weeks, institutions, businesses and citizens have clearly been sharply focused on addressing the immediate effects of the coronavirus emergency, trying to understand day by day how to guarantee the continuity of essential activities. The focus has naturally been on a very short-term time horizon as the nation struggles to deal with the crisis. But Anra advised that risk managers also need to start thinking about how the country will respond when the virus abates and what kind of environment companies will be operating in as the lockdown is lifted. “It is essential to start thinking in perspective now, to imagine what scenario companies will find when the lockdown measures are gradually lifted, when activities will resume at different speeds and in a context completely different from an organisational, economic and social perspective. Coronavirus is putting many companies and professionals in serious difficulty, but it is equally true that those that 'survive' will face a difficult, challenging situation that needs to be prepared for now,” stated Anra. The discussion will be led by Mr De Felice; Carlo Cosimi, head of corporate insurance and risk financing at Saipem and Anra vice-president; and Enrico Guarnerio, president and CEO of Strategica Group. Participation in the webinar will earn two CPD points for the Ferma Rimap certification and one training credit for the ANRA Certificate of Professionalism. Details of the subsequent joint webinar with Ferma to be held in English will be revealed shortly. Meanwhile, Belgian risk management association Belrim will hold its third coronavirus update webinar on 15 April from 5pm to 7pm. The association said that following the success of its two previous events, it has decided to hold a third “networking platform” with peers to provide an opportunity to exchange best practice during the crisis. Narim, the Dutch risk and insurance management association, has also confirmed that its annual conference – originally planned for late May – has been shifted to 18 September because of the virus. Adri van der Waart, president of Narim, told Commercial Risk Europe: “In the Netherlands the government has pointed out restrictions for work, visit and conferences. As elsewhere in Europe, we all should stay at home as much as possible. The restrictions are extended to end of April, but as Narim we know it will be in the benefit of all citizens of Netherlands to remain safe during a longer time. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the annual congress to 18 September.” The focus of this year’s Narim congress is the fourth and fifth industrial revolution. Darko Domic of the Narim Congress Committee explained the theme: "We are in the middle of the fourth industrial revolution. Digitalisation and robotisation are part of our work. One of the hallmarks of our time is the infinite connection. It has never happened in history that billions of people are in contact with each other. This entails new, surprising and rapid developments. “Think of technological breakthroughs in the fields of AI, nanotechnology or biotechnology. Change is one of the key words of our time. This means that the fifth industrial revolution is not so much a consequence of the fourth industrial revolution, but more of a social transformation. So, what is the impact of all these technological developments on the future, on our society, on how we interact with each other, and what about the new money, the environment, training? These themes are of concern to Narim members and we want to discuss them in more detail." The Narim board has chosen a new format for this year’s event. During the ‘deep dive’ into the fifth industrial revolution, professional speakers will focus on social developments in the form of three sessions: The New World Order, The New Leadership and The New Money. Elsewhere, Swiss risk and insurance management association Sirm has also formally cancelled its general assembly, which was planned for 14 May. A new date will be announced soon. The association’s annual conference, the SIRM Forum 2020, is still planned to take place on 28-29 October at Kursaal in Bern.
