Arch Insurance hires Zurich’s Tous for EU unit

Arch Insurance has appointed Roberto Tous as director of strategy & distribution for Europe. Tous will join Arch Insurance (EU), its specialist P&C insurer for the European Union, from Zurich Insurance, where he was head of general liability, financial lines and cyber risks for the Benelux region.

Arch said Tous will work with its European underwriting teams to develop broker relationships and strengthen the company’s distribution strategy. He will report to Søren Scheuer, CEO of Arch Insurance (EU), and also work closely with Simon Williams, chief strategy & distribution officer at Arch Insurance International.

Scheuer said the appointment is another step in developing its European underwriting platform, where it sees “opportunities to expand both geographically and into new lines of business”.

He added: “Working in collaboration with Arch’s teams in Dublin and London as well as our broking partners, Roberto will be a key part of the expansion of our operations across continental Europe.”

Williams said: “Roberto is a terrific addition to our expanding European team. His wealth of experience, Europe-wide market knowledge, and track record in building deep broker relationships makes him the perfect fit as we seek to drive further growth across our underwriting portfolio and increase our relevance to our broker partners.”
