Auer succeeds Stahl as Talanx CRO
Talanx has promoted Simone Auer as chief risk officer (CRO) to take over from Gerhard Stahl on 1 May 2023.
Auer moved from subsidiary Hannover Re to Talanx’s group risk management team in October 2022 as deputy CRO.
Stahl will remain at Talanx as research advisor alongside his work as a university professor, where he plans to expand European research in climate and cyber risk.
Talanx said Stahl will continue to mentor staff at the group and his dual role will facilitate knowledge transfer and build links between younger academics and companies.
Torsten Leue, chairman of the board of management of Talanx, said: “Risk is our business as an insurance company. As chief risk officer, Gerhard Stahl headed the team of many colleagues who developed our internal model. This has significantly enhanced our decision making and I owe him my sincere thanks. Simone Auer will continue this journey, which aims to help us better expect the unexpected in these times of rapid change and global crises.”
