Generali beefs up Asian team

Italian insurer keen to further reach across Asia

Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) has appointed Winnie Chu as head of financial lines underwriting Asia, and Joshua Lynch takes on the role of head of business development Asia.

Commenting on these appointments, head of GC&C Asia Axel Roesner stated: “We are delighted to welcome Winnie and Joshua to our team as we continue investing into further expanding across Asia. Winnie will lead our profitable growth and technical excellence agenda in financial lines with her deep market knowledge in this line, while Joshua will be instrumental in scouting new business opportunities in our highly diverse and competitive regional landscape.”

Roesner added: “These appointments reinforce the strategic focus of GC&C to expand our reach across markets, and to continue growing profitably by serving our clients’ needs with custom-tailored solutions and best risk advisory.”

Chu commented: “It is a great pleasure to join the GC&C Asia team. I am excited to work with everyone to capture growth opportunities in the region based on the strong foundation of underwriting excellence that the financial lines team have built over time. Client-centric solutions will remain our priority as always, supported by quality and innovative underwriting.”

Chu joins Generali from AIG Hong Kong, where she most recently served as the head of financial institutions, after her tenure in the financial lines team of Chubb Hong Kong.

Lynch said: “I am really excited to be joining GC&C Asia and I look forward to working with the team to grow our market presence and support our clients and business partners in the region.”

Lynch joins Generali from Lloyd’s, where he most recently served as regional market development manager for Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, based in Singapore.

He has over 12 years’ experience in insurance, spending nearly ten years at Lloyd’s in a range of development and operational roles across the UK, Hong Kong, and Singapore, including country manager for Hong Kong SAR and delegated authorities regional manager, APAC.
