HDI Global appoints Ahn as CEO Hong Kong
Lau to focus on driving international programmes growth
HDI Global has announced the appointment of Michael Ahn as CEO HDI Global SE Hong Kong. Ahn replaces veteran CEO Daniel Lau, who will move to a new role as director Asia Pacific Network and focus on driving the insurer’s growing international programmes business.
Ahn brings over 31 years’ insurance industry experience in leadership roles to HDI when he assumes the role, effective from 1 November 2024.
Ahn is currently head of Business Solutions Asia Pacific at SCOR. HDI said that he has a proven record of performance and a deep understanding of the Asia-Pacific insurance market, including extensive experience in commercial and specialty single risk lines and facultative reinsurance.
HDI said that Ahn will be responsible for driving strategic growth of the Hong Kong branch office and expanding the portfolio across the region.
Lau has 20 years’ experience as CEO of the Hong Kong branch, and 30 years with the HDI group. As CEO, he has built a successful business servicing Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and South Korea insurance markets. In his new role, Lau will drive growth in international programmes, said HDI.
