Lloyd’s reshuffles UK branch leadership

Lloyd’s Insurance Company (LIC) has named Mark Cooper as head of its LIC UK branch, effective 1 November.

Cooper, who will retain his current position as head of European branches and chief market development officer for LIC, replaces Keith Stern who has been the LIC UK branch manager since its establishment in 2018. Stern will continue to focus on his role as regional manager for the UK and Ireland.

At the same time, David Jackson is appointed as senior underwriting manager, LIC UK branch; and Kirstie Keate is made underwriting manager, LIC UK branch. Both positions are effective 6 December 2021.

The LIC UK branch was set up in 2018 to carry out regulated activities in the UK under the post-Brexit Temporary Regime Permission. LIC expects to complete the application for full authorisation in the first half of next year.

LIC is the Society of Lloyd’s’ Belgian subsidiary and is authorised to carry out insurance and reinsurance business in the European Economic Area. It is supervised by the National Bank of Belgium.

Cooper said: “I am delighted to take on the role of leading the UK branch of LIC in its future developments. I would also like to thank Keith for his stewardship of the LIC branch and hard work in setting up and overseeing the branch.”
