Miller expands into Asia sports business

Broker Miller has announced the appointment of Siva Krishnan as head of sports and entertainment, Asia, and thus launches its sports and entertainment business into the Asia-Pacific market.

Krishnan has worked as an independent sports business consultant for the past three years, having spent over 25 years in various positions across the sports industry, including in sports business and events management, where he has been involved in insurance buying and the provision of insurance clauses in contracts for events. Previous roles include positions at the Singapore Sports Council and ESPN STAR Sports.

The broker said that Krishnan’s appointment continues the expansion of Miller’s sports and entertainment team, bringing its specialist capabilities into new geographies, in line with the business’s broader growth strategy.

For APAC, the focus will be on live events, sporting events and tours, sport associations as well as film and TV.

This appointment is the latest in a series of senior Miller hires across Asia, with Edward Cheak appointed as head of credit and political risk insurance Asia last month.

Tim Nagle, head of sports and entertainment, said: “This marks an exciting step forward for both Miller and our sports and entertainment offering. Through Siva’s appointment, we now have a fully developed solution in the UK, Europe and Asia, demonstrating our commitment to specialty risk and underscoring our strategy to get even closer to customers and offer the best products and services to them.”

Ron White, head of Asia at Miller, commented: “Siva’s appointment further demonstrates the strong trajectory we are on as we continue to expand our presence in Asia. This marks the latest step in elevating our offering to clients in the region, and I greatly look forward to welcoming him to the team.”
