Minet Kenya scoops best business insurance broker award

Insurance broker, Minet Kenya has been named as the overall best insurance broker of the year for 2020, at the Think Business Insurance Awards.

The firm was recognised as the best medical broker of the year, best general broker of the year and the most customer-centric.

Minet Kenya has been singled out for its innovative use of technology in insurance brokerage and other related services. Additionally, the Think Business award focused on the firm’s ability to showcase excellent customer service as well as having the ability to positively contribute to the overall growth of the industry.

Sammy Muthui, Minet Kenya CEO, said the firm had identified a gap in the provision of customer-centric and technology-driven products as a means of reaching more clients and in turn, increasing insurance uptake in the country.

“Winning these awards reaffirms our commitment towards ensuring that our products address our customers’ needs. Technology is fast changing customer preferences, as well as providing insurance companies with opportunities to expand their scope and come up with cutting-edge products aligned with the tech disruption the industry is going through,” Mr Muthui said.

Last year, Minet Kenya introduced key innovative product offerings aimed at improving the general health and wellbeing of the public and its employees in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Through its SASAdoctor partnership, clients are able to get access to medical care through online video medical consultation services for patients. The firm also partnered with Daktari Msafiri, a concierge medical company, to offer quality and convenient services in the comfort of clients’ homes.

The firm’s individual medical product, Minet Health, stands out for its inclusivity and affordability, with a very generous limit.

A partnership with Sanlam Insurance for the provision of retirement benefits resulted in innovation, by introducing a medical solution so that those saving towards retirement are able to access medical care upon retirement.

The firm last year also unveiled a new partnership with Momentum Credit, to allow its members access insurance premium financing for various covers such as motor insurance.
