Awareness of people risk is increasing, whether it is the loss of top talent, a poor safety culture or corporate misconduct. Such risks can be as devastating to a business as a large fire or a flood. Yet the management of people risk is arguably a far less developed discipline than it is for property/casualty exposures.
As companies seek efficiencies, and with the implementation of enterprise risk management (ERM), many companies are, therefore, now taking a more holistic view of risk, including people.
This all points to an opportunity for risk managers. Employee benefits and people risk are emerging areas for the risk profession. They are areas where risk managers can add value.
