This year, risk managers were very much hoping for the calm after the storm but in fact, it seems it has become a more uncertain world than ever.

There does seem to have been some improvement for insurance buyers as they tackled their renewal programmes in 2022 and as they look forward to 2023. However, events in Ukraine and tensions elsewhere in the world have had impacts far and wide. From an energy crisis that has yet to be resolved as we head into winter and the consequences of that for the drive towards renewables and a net-zero world, to continuing supply chain risks and, most recently, economic upheaval, the challenges are coming thick and fast.
