Specialty MGA UK expands international property, financial lines and cyber teams

Specialty MGA UK has expanded its international property, financial lines and cyber teams with three new senior underwriter appointments: Luke Bristow, Tony Loizides and Lisa Rowe.

MNK group chairman Manoj Kumar said: “Luke, Tony and Lisa have a huge amount of experience and will be valuable additions to our growing team. As the international property, financial lines and cyber markets become increasingly competitive, I’m excited that we are adding experts with such strong knowledge in their sectors, and who are trusted by brokers and clients across the market.”

Bristow brings more than a decade of experience working on international and US property risk within the London Market. His clients have included both large, multinational firms and small businesses. He has built strong relationships with brokers across the London Market, supporting them to place both direct and facultative insurance.

Bristow said: “It’s clear that the market is keen to work with Specialty MGA UK and recognises the responsiveness and flexibility we can offer. Underwriters won’t shy away from risk if it can be insured at the right price and it fits within our appetite and strategy. I’m sure that this approach – of being creative to find ways to write business rather than turn it down – will help us continue our growth trajectory.”

Loizides has spent more than 30 years in specialty lines, engaging with markets across the globe, particularly the US. In addition to D&O, E&O, financial institutions and healthcare, he has specifically focused on cyber for over 25 years and has held the position of head of broking at the then only cyber-dedicated London broker for seven years.

Loizides said: “Specialty MGA UK’s focus on providing meaningful capacity and innovative solutions to the bespoke needs of clients make this MGA well placed for rapid growth. Whether it be for niche E&O, public D&O or personal lines cyber, the reinsurance sector has become essential in managing and mitigating these evolving risks. I look forward to growing Specialty’s expertise in these areas and adding real value to our reinsurance offering.”

Rowe has a breadth of experience as both a broker and underwriter, having worked in the insurance industry for over ten years. In her most recent role, she managed a £45m book of business and has played key roles in successfully growing and managing the financial lines book at other firms throughout her career. She has specialised in areas ranging from investment managers, global banks and aircraft leasing to fintechs and challenger banks.

“This is an exciting period of growth for the company, and I’m delighted to be part of its further expansion into financial lines,” said Rowe. “It’s clear that Specialty MGA UK recognises the huge opportunities within financial lines, with already a successful and profitable book of business. I look forward to working with Manoj and the team as we continue to provide additional capacity in the market.”

Specialty MGA UK focused on providing additional capacity for specialty lines of businesses and hard-to-place risks. The MGA focuses on lines of business including property, construction, energy, marine, construction, aviation, financial lines, accident & health and surety.
