SRS makes key appointments to new Guernsey office

Strategic Risk Solutions (SRS) has made two key appointments to its newly established office in Guernsey. Elyse Dandeker has been appointed to the position of director of accounting services, and Stephen Nash has been appointed to the position of director of insurance services. Ms Dandeker will join SRS on 7 June 2021, while Mr Nash will join later in the year.

SRS said that Peter Child, whose appointment as managing director, Guernsey was announced earlier this year, takes up his new role on 26 July 2021. “The three executives form the foundation of the company’s Guernsey operations, the base from which SRS will manage its expansion into onshore and offshore jurisdictions in Europe,” said SRS.

“We are delighted with the response to our arrival in Guernsey. It reinforces our belief that the European market is receptive to a global, independent firm with strong local expertise, that puts clients first,” said Brady Young, CEO and chairman of SRS. “Our business in Europe is important strategically and financially to SRS and we believe the long-term opportunity is significant.”

Ms Dandeker joins SRS from Willis Towers Watson (WTW), where for the past five years she held the position of account director. In that role, she was responsible for leading teams in all aspects of captive management as well as providing technical, industry and subject matter expertise and supporting the business from an operational perspective. Prior to joining WTW, Ms Dandeker held the position of senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Channel Islands, managing teams that specialised in captive insurance and private equity audits.

Mr Nash joins SRS after 27 years with Artex Risk Solutions (Guernsey), where he held the position of client insurance manager. At Artex, he was primarily accountable for the provision of technical insurance advice and services to a number of captive clients, including those engaged in the global natural resources, international finance, legal and logistics industries. He also ran a protected cell company that acted as a commercial reinsurer providing a range of niche reinsurance products to specialist insurers in the UK market.

“The pieces are coming together nicely in Europe and, with the addition of Elyse and Steve’s skillset and experience, we are very excited about the foundation we are building in Guernsey,” said Derek Bridgeman, managing director, SRS Europe. “We anticipate several additional local hires and recognise that Guernsey’s stable, proportionate and responsive regulatory approach complements our global expansion initiatives around captives, commercial management and insurance-linked securities. To date, our interactions with regulators, as well as existing and new clients, have been extremely encouraging and provide us with confidence that an alternative to broker-led management offerings is very much welcomed.”

Commercial Risk is hosting a Captives Management Conference on 10-12 May 2021. Drawing on the expertise of senior risk managers from across Europe, this conference will consider the key issues and also provide education and practical advice for those moving towards a captive option for the first time. It will also provide an opportunity for those who already have a captive to learn more about maximising their programmes. Make sure you register NOW for your free place
