Belgian beer firm Duvel restarts operations after cyberattack
Belgian beer manufacturer Duvel has resumed production within a week after it was hit by a cyberattack, according to reports.
Production at its five breweries ground to a halt on Wednesday following a ransomware attack. The company shut down its servers once it identified the attack, which stopped production at four breweries in Belgium and also a US factory in Kansas City.
An investigation into the cyberattack at Duvel, which also produces Vedett and Liefmans, is underway.
“The built-in command systems and alarms in the IT system worked well, so our IT department was immediately informed of the attack,” Duvel said in a statement.
Production at a plant in Puurs-Sint-Amands in Belgium was back up and running the next day, with operations at the other sites also now resumed.
Russian ransomware group Stormous claimed responsibility for the cyberattack.
