Adriana Cavaliere wins European Risk Manager of the Year

Adriana Cavaliere, senior manager of risk at Belgium’s air traffic control skeyes, has won Risk Manager of the Year at the European Risk Management Awards held by Ferma and Commercial Risk. She scooped the prestigious prize, sponsored by Allianz Commercial, at an awards ceremony in Antwerp last night. The awards, with Allianz Commercial as the headline partner, were held after the first day of the biennial Ferma Seminar at the Flanders Meeting and Convention Centre. Cavaliere beat Risk Manager of the Year finalists Sadig Hajiyev, group risk coordinator at SOCAR in Turkey, and Tom Hughes, chief risk officer (CRO) of Domestic & General in the UK, to the prize. There were five award winners in the Excellence in Risk Management categories. George Ong, CRO of Northern Ireland Water Group won Business Continuity Programme of the Year, sponsored by Belfor. Karl-Johan Rodert, global manager captive and insurance at Autoliv in Sweden, won Innovative Insurance Programme of the Year, sponsored by Zurich. Rising Star of the year, sponsored by AXA XL, went to Antonia Müller, interim group head of risk at Domestic & General in Germany. Charlotte Enggaard, senior director, head of group risk management at Carlsberg Breweries and president of Danish association Darim won Outstanding Contribution to the Risk Management Profession – Association Award, sponsored by Howden. This is a new award for existing or recently retired private or public sector individuals who have made a significant contribution to a European risk management association. The Training & Education Programme of the Year winner was the Belgian risk management association Belrim Academy. The awards also reward excellence and innovation by core service providers. There were six winners in this category. Broker Innovation of the Year, sponsored by Allianz Commercial, was taken home by Marsh for its Ukraine ‘AsOne’ Cargo Facility. Insurance company Innovation of the Year went to HDI Global Specialty for its CIS Project – Implementation of SPIN (IDIT). A full list of the winners and finalists is below.
