AIG appoints chief underwriting officer, international casualty

Ciara Brady has joined American International Group (AIG) as chief underwriting officer, international casualty. She succeeds Patrick Mailloux, who has retired from AIG.

According to AIG, she will lead the overall strategic direction and objectives for international casualty underwriting, collaborating with claims, actuarial and other functions to enhance AIG’s underwriting strategy.

Ms Brady joins AIG from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty in Zurich where she served as global head of liability, driving the strategic direction of the company’s global casualty business and leading a team of 250 underwriters globally. Prior to Allianz, she worked for Swiss Re in Zurich and Toronto for 15 years, serving in several leadership positions, including as head of casualty underwriting operations.

Ms Brady is based in Zurich and will report to Lex Baugh, global chief underwriting officer, casualty and financial lines, and Jon Hancock, CEO, international general insurance.

In a joint statement, Mr Baugh and Mr Hancock stated: “Ciara is an exceptional leader and brings tremendous casualty underwriting experience to the team. We look forward to her expertise as we deliver value and an enhanced customer experience around the world.”
