Ardonagh snaps up leading Dutch broker Léons Group
Ardonagh Europe is buying family-owned Netherlands broker Léons Group for an undisclosed fee.
Léons Group is headquartered in Amsterdam and specialises in serving corporate clients with complex risks and international operations.
It will continue to operate independently as part of Ardonagh Europe under the direct leadership of CEO Sunny Léons and Nico Léons. The Léons family maintains a stake in the company as part of the deal.
The move by the European subsidiary of The Ardonagh Group is subject to regulatory approvals.
Léons Group was founded by Max Léons in 1951. It has played a key role in developing the global network Brokerslink over the years.
The firm was a founding partner and shareholder of Brokerslink. Sunny Léons was a Brokerslink board member for many years.
Conor Brennan, CEO of Ardonagh Europe, said “We are excited to welcome Léons to Ardonagh, together building on its Dutch roots and solid reputation in the market to build a portfolio of brands and insurance broker companies that are leaders in their target markets. Sunny and Nico have built a unique business with a special culture that will fit perfectly alongside the portfolio of independent businesses that Ardonagh has acquired over the last number of years. We are very excited by what we can achieve with our new partners in the Netherlands.”
Sunny Léons said his firms will team with Ardonagh’s “considerable” resource and capital to build out an international group, which includes recently acquired Portuguese broker MDS, working as individual partners.
