Barbican Insurance Group has appointed Marc Sullivan to its energy underwriting team.
Mr Sullivan, who joins Barbican from Starr Underwriting Agents, will take on the role of class underwriter for downstream energy risks. He will report to Olivier Decombes, head of energy, power and utilities at Barbican.
Mr Sullivan began his insurance career at Hiscox in 2006 and has spent the past eight years at Starr Underwriting Agents’ onshore energy unit as a senior underwriter.
Announcing the appointment, Mr Decombes said: “Marc has succeeded in growing a comprehensive portfolio across an international client base within the energy sector. He is a highly respected figure within the London market and I am sure will make a very positive contribution to our ongoing efforts to expand our business and capitalise on opportunities for sustainable growth in this highly competitive and dynamic sector.”
Mr Sullivan said: “I look forward to further developing the product suite that we deliver to provide extensive coverage that spans the full spectrum of upstream, midstream and downstream risks, and to enhance our cross-class offering to include liability, terrorism, cyber and other lines of business written by Barbican. This will enable us to further expand our worldwide footprint within the energy sector.”
