Captive Insurance Companies Association elects new chair and board members

The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) has elected Renea Louie, chief operations officer of Pro Group Captive Management Services, as chair of its board of directors.

“It is an honour and privilege to serve as CICA’s 2022-2023 board chair. CICA’s strength stems from our members, leadership and staff who are all passionate about serving the industry to create innovation, solutions and progress. The global pandemic has revealed to a much larger universe of business owners the power of captives, and the coming years will bring large growth for the industry. With growth comes new challenges, and CICA remains committed to providing the education, insights, perspectives and best practices in all facets of captive operations, guidance and leadership needed to thrive,” said Louie.

According to CICA, Louie has 30 years of experience, has been an active volunteer and leader across the US and has served on the CICA board for the past four years.

The board also elected Nicholas Hentges, CEO Captive Resources, as vice-chair of CICA; and Mary Ellen Moriarty, vice-president for property and casualty, EEIA, as secretary/treasurer. Lance Abbott of BevCap Management serves as immediate past chair.

CICA also elected to the board Prabal Lakhanpal, vice-president, Spring Consulting Group, who chairs CICA’s NEXTGen young and new professionals committee; and Udo Kappes, head of P&C, employee lines and reinsurance at Airbus Insurance Risk Management, who also chairs the board of directors of the European Captive Insurance and Reinsurance Owners’ Association.

Returning CICA board members are: Courtney Claflin, executive director of captive programmes, University of California, office of the president; Colin Donovan, president, STICO Mutual Insurance; Deyna Feng, director captive programmes, Cummins Risk International; Heather McClure, chief risk adviser, US healthcare practice at Aon; Michael Scott, attorney, Allison & Mosby-Scott; and Michael Zuckerman, associate professor, Temple University.
