AIG appoints new head of UK distribution AIG will appoint Adam Winslow as Distribution Director in the UK on January 14. He will be based in London and report to Nicolas Aubert, AIG Managing Director for UK and Anthony Baldwin, Managing Director, Country Operations and Distribution, Europe. Mr Winslow will join from Aviva where as Director of Strategic Partnerships he was responsible for driving distribution through some of the company's largest and most important strategic partnerships across both the general and life insurance product range.hideHe previously worked for AGF Asset Management in Paris, which is now re-branded as Allianz, and Fusion Outsourcing Services in Cape Town before joining Aviva in 2006. Mr Aubert said on the new appointment: "Our goal is to be the most valued insurer in the UK in our chosen markets by 2015 and, to achieve this, we need to establish stronger and deeper relationships with our brokers and clients. Adam's skills and experience will be invaluable in helping us to achieve this across our distribution network." Lockton expands UK benefits practice Lockton has made a number of appointments to its recently founded UK Employee Benefits practice with the hires of five health and risk specialists. Jon Green and Chris Rofe, who have over 40 years' experience in the sector, join from Buck Consultants and Kate Morgan joins from Gallaghers. Consultant Dr Bridget Juniper also joins to help drive the team's employee wellbeing offering and Nick Pluss joins the London-based team moving from Lockton's US Chicago office to add analytical support. Lockton's UK Head of Employee Benefits Mike Tyler commented: "I am delighted that we have been able to attract this level of talent and quality in such a short time and in line with our plans to build a centre of excellence in the risk benefits arena. The team will provide dedicated support to organisations looking to improve the health of their employees, reduce absenteeism and enhance productivity." ACE names new head of marketing and customer strategy for UK and Ireland ACE has promoted Ruth Polyblank to the newly-created role of Head of Marketing and Customer Strategy for its UK & Ireland region. In this position Ms Polyblank will lead a number of new strategic projects focused on customer innovation, particularly within ACE's UK & Ireland corporate and major risks segments. She will also continue to oversee all marketing activities for the region. Ms Polyblank was previously UK & Ireland Marketing and Communications Manager, a position she took up in October 2010. Before joining ACE she held marketing roles at CLS, Ernst & Young, Fusion Insurance and Equity. Reporting to David Robinson, Regional President, UK & Ireland, Ms Polyblank takes up her new role with immediate effect and continues to be based in London. Nexus announces new underwriting partners for 2013 Nexus Underwriting Management Ltd (Nexus), an independent London-based Specialty Managing General Agency Group, has introduced several new underwriting partners to its Lloyd's trading platform. Nexus Financial Products (NFP), which specialises in financial lines products, has added Marketform Syndicate 2468 and Sagicor Syndicate 1206. The consortium continues to be led by AG Dore Syndicate 2526 and is supported by Montpelier Syndicate 5151 and Mitsui Sumitomo Syndicate 3210. Nexus Professional Risks Ltd (NPR), the regional Professional Indemnity and Directors and Officers distribution platform, has added Canopius Syndicate 4444 and Liberty Syndicate 4472 at 25% and 15% respectively. NPR continues to be led by Novae Syndicate 2007 and supported by Sagicor Syndicate 1206, both with 30% lines. Following the purchase of Credit Indemnity Financial Services (CIFS) from Novae Underwriting Ltd and the formation of a new Managing General Agency Nexus CIFS Ltd, Liberty Syndicate 4472 will lead Novae's Trade Credit platform, supported by Novae Syndicate 2007, Sagicor Syndicate 1206 and Canopius Syndicate 4444 as announced on 3 January this year. Nexus CEO, Colin Thompson, commented: "We would like to thank our widening base of underwriting partners for a smooth 2013 renewal and look forward to continuing to deliver on upper quartile underwriting results. We would also like to thank AJ Gallagher and JLT Re for their support in negotiating our 2013 Lloyd's underwriting contracts." Argo Group establishes first sidecar Argo Group has established sidecar Harambee Re 2013-1 Ltd-which it claims is the first ever to support both a reinsurance and insurance portfolio. Harambee Re provides capacity of approximately 5% of premium income for specific property portfolios that represent two of Argo Group's core businesses-Argo Re, the Group's reinsurance operation and Colony Specialty, Argo Group's excess and surplus lines company. Argo Group President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Watson III stated: "We are pleased to support our business growth objectives with this new funding vehicle. Harambee Re enables us to grow the size of two of our core businesses without adding materially to the group's exposure to the volatility associated with US earthquakes and hurricanes."
