Aon buys cyber specialist Stroz Friedberg to create new advisory group Aon will buy cyber risk specialist Stroz Friedberg to create a new cyber risk management advisory group. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed and the acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions. Stroz Friedberg is a global risk management firm that specialises in cyber. Based in New York, the firm has offices across the US, as well as London, Zurich, Dubai and Hong Kong.hideStroz Friedberg's 550-plus team will join Aon's new Cyber Solutions Group. Michael Patsalos-Fox, Stroz Friedberg's CEO, will become the CEO and co-chair of Aon's Cyber Solutions Group. John Bruno, Aon's executive vice president of enterprise innovation and chief information officer, will join Patsalos-Fox as co-chair. The new group will focus on cyber risk transfer, mitigation, advisory and response. "This acquisition will allow Aon's clients to have access to the most advanced thinking and solutions in the industry; improving their proactive posture to confront cyber risk and respond more effectively in the event of an attack," Mr Bruno said. "Aon and Stroz Friedberg have highly complementary end-to-end cyber risk management solutions and services. This bold step greatly expands Aon's cyber solutions and differentiates us from our competition while accelerating innovation on behalf of our clients." Mr Patsalos-Fox said that Aon and Stroz Friedberg understand that companies need an integrated approach to mitigate cyber risk and achieve resilience. As a combined force the two firms will have the scale and platform to satisfy the growing market need for a comprehensive risk management solution, he added. Marsh names new chief client officer for UK & Ireland Marsh has appointed Ailsa King as chief client officer for UK & Ireland. Ms King will report to Mark Weil, CEO, Marsh UK & Ireland. She will also join Marsh's UK & Ireland executive committee and, subject to regulatory approval, become a director of Marsh Ltd. Ms King is expected to start work at Marsh in the second quarter of 2017. She joins from Willis Towers Watson, where she worked for 25 years, most recently as head of UK client and business development. As chief client officer, UK & Ireland she will work across Marsh's operations to develop strategic risk and insurance solutions for the broker's clients. She will also work closely with executives across Marsh & McLennan's operating companies - Guy Carpenter, Mercer and Oliver Wyman - on key client initiatives. Mr Weil said: "We are delighted to welcome Ailsa, a recognised industry leader, as our chief client officer. Ailsa's significant industry experience and deep client relationships will ensure that our clients will continue to be at the centre of our strategic efforts and that their views will be represented at the highest level within our firm." Willis Re appoints Ronnie Carroll to western Europe team Willis Re has appointment Ronnie Carroll as head of structured solutions for Europe West and senior UK client advisor. He will report directly to Alkis Tsimaratos, managing director, head of Europe West at the reinsurance broker. Mr Carroll joins from Hannover Re where he was a senior underwriter, responsible for advanced solutions in the UK and Ireland. Mr Tsimaratos said: "We've established a unique platform across western Europe, most recently within our revamped UK and Ireland teams, combining a deeper strategic advisory approach to transactional excellence...The appointment of Ronnie will further strengthen this effort and I know that his talent, experience and market relationships will add significant value to our client offering."
