AGCS partners with BAE Systems to defend clients against cyber risk Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty (AGCS) has teamed up with BAE Systems' cyber division to help customers better defend and protect against cyber breach. The partnership sees BAE Systems join Allianz's incident response panel, which aims to minimise business data loss and reputational damage from cyber attacks. The relationship with BAE Systems will offer Allianz customers access to the company's GCHQ-accredited incident response experts for the very first time. This will allow the experts to identify and tackle potential defence shortfalls, and address any breach effectively as soon as it occurs.hideNigel Pearson, global head of fidelity at AGCS, said: "The new generation of cyber risks are more complex: moving from corporate data breaches and privacy concerns to threats including intellectual property theft, cyber extortion and the impact of business interruption following a cyber attack or from operational or technical failure; a risk which is often underestimated. With our new partner BAE Systems, our cyber insurance policyholders will benefit from unique access to a panel of forensic IT experts, who will work with them to manage a cyber incident." Dr Scott McVicar, general manager EMEA at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, said the collaboration will help address potentially far-reaching impacts of a breach, providing Allianz clients with access to industry leaders to reduce, transfer or manage cyber risk. Generali Global Corporate & Commercial appoints Alan Moore as head of UK Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) named Alan Moore as head of global corporate and commercial, UK during the summer. In addition to this role, he continues to operate as global chief underwriting officer for GC&C. Mr Moore has more than 20 years' experience in the insurance sector, spanning multinational programme underwriting to corporate relationship management. He spent ten years at Zurich. Mr Moore is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and an Associate of the Institute of Risk Management. He reports directly to Paolo Ribotta, head of GC&C and legal representative of Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. Mr Ribotta said: "Since the launch of GC&C in 2013, we have formed a solid team structure with the best-in-class experts in the market, specialised in different areas of our business to ensure excellence of service to our clients and partners. I am confident that Alan's extensive experience in the insurance business will substantially add value to our strategic growth and development overall, and to the UK market." Generali has also appointed Steven Spano as UK country manager. He was previously head of finance and administration at Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A's UK branch. Mr Spano will be in charge of managing support functions for Generali employee benefits, GC&C and global health business lines in the UK market. XL Catlin names Lauren Tennant Pollock as vice-president of emerging markets XL Catlin has appointed Lauren Tennant Pollock as vice-president of emerging markets. Ms Tennant Pollack will be based New York. She has recently completed an MBA at Harvard Business School. During her study she worked as an adviser to Blue Marble Microinsurance, a consortium of leading insurers committed to designing creative solutions to enhance insurance protection in underserved regions. Prior to this, Ms Tennant Pollock worked at Argo Group International, where she was responsible for emerging market operation strategy and product design. She worked at Guy Carpenter & Company before Argo. At XL Catlin, Ms Tennant Pollock will be involved in several of the firm's innovation projects, working closely with Sarah Street, executive vice-president, strategy and innovation initiatives. Brendan Plessis, XL Catlin's head of emerging markets, said: "XL Catlin's emerging markets team is responsible for delivering on our commitment to providing (re)insurance solutions to developing regions across the world. Conceiving and building out these solutions requires innovative thought leadership. We simply cannot default to the products and models the industry has relied upon in mature markets but rather, we need to build upon existing strategies in traditional (re)insurance and apply novel methods of product distribution. He added: "As we continue to play a critical role in expanding our global reach through disaster risk financing and microinsurance, we believe that Lauren has exactly the right experience and expertise to ensure we are out in front and driving the industry forward." Peter Borchers appointed CEO of Allianz X Allianz will appoint Peter Borchers as CEO of Allianz X, the recently established unit that forms a key pillar of the group’s digital transformation strategy and push into the InsurTech space. Mr Borchers will join at the beginning of October. In the role, he will help Allianz X to identify, build and globally scale new business models in the InsurTech arena. Mr Borchers is experienced in corporate incubation and corporate startup collaboration. He will join Allianz from hub:raum/Deutsche Telekom. Christof Mascher, a member of the Allianz management board and chief operating officer of Allianz Group, said: "Allianz X will unlock strategic growth opportunities for Allianz in InsurTech and adjoining areas like blockchain, artificiaI intelligence or virtual reality; addressing topics like mobility, health and care. Peter Borchers has broad experiences in digitisation and I am glad he'll join Allianz."
