XL restructures casualty risk engineering team XL Group has restructured its casualty risk engineering team to streamline services for clients across its international network. The team helps businesses to identify and reduce their public, product, employers' and environmental liability risks. The new structure will allow clients to have direct access to experts in the respective industries within each of the dedicated practices, said XL. The practice-focused approach will ensure that clients receive the most relevant and tailored solutions to meet their needs, said the insurer.hideMarkus Kälin, Head of Casualty Risk Engineering, commented: "Our team has become an important differentiator for clients. XL Group's international casualty risk engineering team is made up of twelve risk engineers, some with more than 20 years of industry and insurance experience. The latest addition to the team is Michael Biermann, Practice Leader Automotive & Industrial Production Casualty. He joined XL Group from ACE where he worked as a casualty risk engineer for the automotive supplier industry. Prior to that he spent time with Borg Warner Turbo Systems where he was responsible for all warranty cases for turbochargers in Europe. Between 1997 and 2011, Mr Biermann worked with Opel and General Motors (GM), holding several senior roles as manager supplier quality & warranty. AGCS appoints Crabtree as UK head of product development for financial lines Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed Susan Crabtree as head of product development financial lines (UK). Based in the insurer's London office she is responsible for developing innovative new products and derivative versions of policy forms for the firm's financial lines operation across the UK. She will report directly to Kevin Northcott, Regional Head of Financial Lines at AGCS. Ms Crabtree also forms part of AGCS' financial lines global product team in Munich under Joachim Albers, Global Head of Product Development for Financial Lines. Mr Northcott said on the appointment: "Susan has excellent capabilities in both insurance law and product development in the global insurance profession. She brings depth of knowledge to the team and her role will be to enhance and innovate AGCS' product line to target existing clients, brokers and prospects. We expect Susan to play a key role, alongside our underwriters, in the growth of the AGCS financial lines portfolio. " Marsh expands analytics platform Marsh has announced that its Marsh Analytics Platform (MAP)-which enables clients to quantify and manage risk financing through a combination of data, analytics and technology-is now backed by a proprietary global loss database, a trained global team of sales professionals and hundreds of devices with the industry's only mobile content-delivery platform, known as iMAP. Marsh's said the developments reflect its ongoing commitment to rapidly implement analytic solutions across the firm globally. The broker claims that since being introduced to the market, MAP has enabled clients to leverage a holistic look at risk financing, with some experiencing up to 10-to-one returns on investment and 5% to 15% cost savings. "Our unique combination of data, analytics and technology has demonstrated clear results for clients who have been able to utilise the MAP solution to generate meaningful returns on investment, cost reductions and a clear understanding of optimal risk financing," said Peter Zaffino, President and CEO of Marsh. "The MAP solution is fundamentally about giving senior leaders a holistic view of risk that can enable them to confidently move forward with strategic decisions in today's increasingly uncertain global business environment," he added. Marsh has used iMAP-the mobile version of the platform-to assist thousands of clients in evaluating risk financing through a dynamic, real-time and customised experience. The MAP solution applies to large, multinational organisations through to smaller local and regional businesses. The industries served include aviation, chemicals, construction, energy, financial services, health care, manufacturing, professional services, retail, real estate and transportation. "The significant rise in the level and complexity of emerging risks is driving a change across our industry that requires new, forward-looking solutions. The success of MAP is a testament to our ability to address the changing market dynamics," said John Drzik, President of Marsh Global Risk and Specialties. Marsh's Global Loss Data Library now represents over $300bn in aggregate claims. It contains data derived from dozens of countries and more than 20 industries, combining claims and placement information to deliver a complete picture of current and emerging trends in risk. Marsh's approach to analytics focuses on leveraging the capabilities of the comprehensive solution across the organisation's business lines. Since 2013, Marsh has strategically integrated the power of analytics in its business by training hundreds of professionals on the MAP solution.
