Argo International launches new EIL product Argo International, the Lloyd's insurer and member of Argo Group, has launched a new Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) product. It can cover third party liabilities associated primarily with pollution, but also environmental damage, arising from both sudden and gradual events. Argo said its new product has been developed to address the increasing environmental liability requirements that legal developments in the UK and Europe have placed on businesses.hideThe new policies will include cover for clean-up of pollution caused by the activities of the insured and that caused by the mobilisation, or exacerbation, of in-situ contamination. It also provides protection against third party bodily injury and property damage, transportation and loss of profit/rent. James Cassidy, Underwriter, General Liability, at Argo said: "Developments such as the EU Environmental Liability Directive highlight the growing emphasis placed at a national and pan-European level for businesses to insure against new risks arising from environmental and pollution damage. Our new product, which complements our current suite of general liability products, will provide further security for our clients and ensure that they are covered against both traditional and new liabilities." International SOS launches travel risk mitigation framework The International SOS Foundation, together with over 13 leading international health, safety and security experts, has launched what it described as the world's first global framework to protect workers travelling or on overseas assignments. The new document provides strategic guidance for organisations to identify hazards and threats faced by workers and manage associated risks to ensure their safety, health and security. Laurent Fourier, Director, International SOS Foundation said: "This is the first ever international framework and the timing is crucial as international business travel is growing faster than ever before...As businesses are shifting towards emerging and riskier markets and sending more workers, and their dependents, abroad, they need to make sure they are responsible and ensure the health and safety of those employees." Howden makes senior aviation appointments Howden Insurance Brokers, part of the Hyperion Insurance Group, has appointed John Lloyd as managing director of its aviation division. Mr Lloyd joins from A J Gallagher, where he was Divisional Director, Aviation. Additionally, Barry Birch joins Howden's aviation team from Marsh and Marcus Grainger from A J Gallagher. Both Mr Birch and Mr Grainger take on director positions within Howden's aviation division. Tim Coles, CEO of Howden Broking Group, commented: "John, Barry and Marcus bring a wealth of expertise in the ever-changing aviation sector to Howden, including significant international experience. As a result the Howden aviation division becomes a 10-strong team of aviation and aerospace specialists with significant geographical and product knowledge. The division is well-positioned to serve both direct and wholesale clients globally, working together with operations across the Howden Broking Group."
