David Arick named new Rims president
David Arick, assistant treasurer, global risk management at International Paper Co, has been named as the new president of US risk management society Rims for 2024.
Arick, a member of the New York-based organisation for more than 20 years, joined the Rims board of directors in 2019, and has served as secretary, treasurer and vice-president.
He was previously manager of insurance programmes at General Electric and prior to that held risk management roles at various companies, including Emerson Electric, Abbott Laboratories and Banc One Corp.
Arick succeeds Jennifer Santiago, director of risk management and safety at Wakefern Food.
Kristen Peed, head of corporate risk at Sequoia Benefits and Insurance Services, is named vice-president of Rims.
Kevin Bates, group head of risk and insurance at LendLease, will be the treasurer and Manuel Padilla, vice-president of risk management and insurance at MacAndrews & Forbes, was named secretary.
Rims has also announced new board members. The new members are Ann Barry, senior director of risk management at Palo Alto Networks; Will Lehman, global director of risk management at Cook Group; Tamieka Weeks, director of global risk management and insurance at Southwire; and Robert Zhang, regional risk and compliance manager in Asia Pacific at Ikea.
Tina Gardiner, manager of risk management services at the Regional Municipality of York, Ontario, has left the Rims board along with two others. Christy Kaufman, vice-president of P&C risk and compliance at USAA, and Patrick Sterling, vice-president of legendary people at Texas Roadhouse, have also gone.
Sterling was Rims president in 2022.
