Ferma announces committee to boost ERM

Companies urged to accelerate ERM to keep pace with changing risk environment

Europe’s risk management association Ferma will establish a new enterprise risk committee in January after identifying key areas of risk for greater focus. Setting out a list of priorities for risk managers, Ferma said the Strategic ERM Committee will operate across the broad areas of governance, culture and communication.

Typhaine Beaupérin, CEO of Ferma, said the risk management function has become increasingly important to companies in the face of growing uncertainty.

“The committee will focus on elevating the standing of the risk management profession both at company and European level. We will work to accelerate the evolution of the ERM function as companies strive to keep pace with the fast-changing risk environment and expanding regulatory requirements,” Beaupérin said.

Ferma said the new committee, which will be chaired by Laurence Eeckman, Ferma board member and vice president, group risk management, at Atlas Copco, will provide risk managers with the knowledge, tools and resources to support their organisation’s ERM work, given the need to enhance aspects of risk analysis and company resilience.

Eeckman, who is also chair of the Ferma Seminar Committee, said: “Discussions at this year’s Seminar centred on the growing relevance of risk management in an increasingly volatile business landscape impacted by geopolitical upheaval, rapid technological advancements, and shifting market forces. Practitioners must be empowered to influence the strategic direction of organisations in a period of such uncertainty.”
