IRM launches global advisory board and announces 30-strong team

The EAB is drawn from leading risk academics and professionals from around the world and will act as a high level 'sounding board' to provide guidance on the future direction of IRM qualifications. It aims to ensure they remain relevant and internationally applicable both now and in the future, said the IRM. Dr Drennan was previously Chief Executive at Alarm, the UK's public risk management association, and before that was Head of the Division of Risk at Glasgow Caledonian University. Speaking about the review, Dr Drennan said: "The IRM programmes focus on enterprise risk management and are already highly valued by risk professionals in the UK, Europe and around the world, with hundreds of students gaining our qualifications every year. Our aim is to ensure that the programmes continue to be relevant and reflect the changes taking place in the business environment-private, public and third sector-as well as assisting individuals to develop the competences needed to successfully manage risk at every level of the organisation." Dr Drennan work will help the IRM to meet the developing educational needs of its international student population, the IRM told Commercial Risk Europe. "It is clearly a major undertaking but Lynn has started to make inroads and has pulled together a virtual online education advisory board consisting of leading senior risk professionals, thought leaders and educationalists from across the world," it said. This team will look at the knowledge and competencies needed by tomorrow’s risk professionals. They will also advise on detailed syllabus design, formal recognition, study methods and mapping of existing competency and skills frameworks against our qualifications.
