Jennifer Santiago appointed new Rims president

Jennifer Santiago, director of risk management and safety at Wakefern Food, is the new president of Rims.

Santiago has been a member of the US risk management society for more than 15 years. She joined Rims’ board of directors in 2014 and has served as secretary, treasurer and vice president.

She has previously been assistant vice president and chief risk officer at the Pennsylvania State University. Prior to that, Santiago held leadership roles in enterprise risk management, operational risk, ethics and compliance risk, and insurance initiatives at various companies.

She succeeds Patrick Sterling, vice president of legendary people at Texas Roadhouse, as head of Rims.

David Arick, assistant treasurer, global risk management at International Paper, has been named vice president.

Kristen Peed, director of corporate risk management at CBIZ, was named treasurer; Kevin Bates, group head of risk and insurance at Lendlease, was appointed secretary.

Santiago said the current risk landscape shows no sign of stabilising, and stressed that this “highly uncertain environment will require risk leaders to lean on each other, share experiences and embrace diverse thoughts and perspectives”.

There are no new Rims board members for 2023.

The other existing board members are:

  • Penni Chambers, vice president, risk management at Hillwood, a Perot company
  • Tina Gardiner, manager, risk management services, The Regional Municipality of York (Ontario)
  • Christy Kaufman, vice president of risk management at Zillow Group
  • John Kline, director, risk and insurance management, Discover Financial Services
  • Manuel Padilla, vice president, risk management & insurance, MacAndrews & Forbes.
