New class underwriter for energy and liability at Dale
Andrew Carter has been appointed as class underwriter, energy and liability insurance at Dale Underwriting Partners (DUP), the trading name for Dale Managing Agency Limited’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 1729. Carter will be responsible for building out Dale’s entry into marine and energy liability business lines.
“I am delighted to welcome someone of Andrew’s calibre to Dale. His vast network of broker and client relationships spanning both the marine and energy industries through London, the US, Europe and Asia will make him an asset to the team,” said active underwriter Dominic Peters.
Based in London, Carter will report to Matt Holmes, head of energy, and he brings nearly 30 years’ experience. He joins Dale from Markel International, where he served as director of liability. At Markel, Carter was responsible for overseeing the marine & energy liability and transport & logistics teams in London and Asia, having joined the company in 2014. Previously, he worked at QBE Syndicate 1036 for 19 years, where he held the role of portfolio manager for liability.
“I am extremely pleased to announce Andrew’s appointment, and we look forward to working with him in 2024,” said Holmes. “Andrew has a proven track record of working within the liability sector, and his extensive experience will help us develop and expand our marine and energy offerings in 2024.”
Carter said: “I am delighted to be joining Dale Underwriting Partners, a well-respected and entrepreneurial company that provides an exceptional underwriting service to clients and brokers alike. I’m pleased to start working with Matt and his team at this exciting point in the company’s history.”
In December 2023, Dale announced that it received final regulatory approval for private markets manager CVC to acquire a majority share in the business.
