Risk Distribution Europe 2023

This report is based on a survey of and a series of interviews with leading brokers across Europe. We asked about the risk landscape, the state of the insurance market, the challenges facing brokers, the availability of alternative risk solutions and the role of technology and data. The report is designed to help our readers understand what their brokers can do to really help them through this challenging period, what they have to offer and how best to work with them.
The main findings:
• natural catastrophe and cyber are the biggest risks for insurers
• high nat cat losses and looming cyber risks mean that rates are likely to stay flat at best across most lines
• alternative risk solutions and captives will be more in demand, so insurers must ensure they remain relevant
• if risk managers want better coverage, they need to present their risks better
• brokers must invest in new technology if they are to be of more value to both insurers and risk managers
