Zurich hires new commercial underwriting chief for Singapore
Global insurer Zurich has appointed Anish Jadav as its new chief underwriting officer for its commercial insurance business in Singapore.
Mr Jadav will head up several specialty lines in the region including accident and health, financial, marine and surety.
He will also work closely with Zurich’s head of the Asia-Pacific commercial insurance team, Chris Waterman, as the insurer looks to grow its presence in the region.
Mr Jadav’s appointment is part of two-pronged plan to increase the footprint of its Asia-Pacific commercial insurance business and also transform Singapore into an underwriting hub for its clients across multiple Asia-Pacific markets, said the insurer.
Zurich has made a number of changes to its commercial insurance unit this year. Back in May, Zurich’s CFO told analysts that it was planning to improve the performance of its commercial book after reporting underwriting losses for the first quarter in Europe and the US.
Then in July, it hired Sierra Signorelli as chief underwriter for all of its commercial business, relocating her to the US from Asia, where she had previously been in charge of specialty business for AIG.
In addition, Zurich has also bolstered its Asian insurance business with a number of senior executive hires in recent months, in recognition of the region’s rapid commercial growth.
Mr Jadav joins from Zurich’s commercial insurance business in London, where he took on various roles including deputy chief underwriting officer and head of the facilities portfolio. He is also a fellow of the British Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
