Zurich names Thornberry group chief claims officer
Zurich has named Tom Thornberry as its new group chief claims officer.
Thornberry is currently global head of financial lines, cyber and credit lines claims at the insurer, and will relocate from London to Zurich for his new role.
He will take up the post from 1 April and report to Sierra Signorelli, Zurich’s CEO of Commercial Insurance.
Thornberry will set Zurich’s overall claims strategy across all business lines and distribution channels, the company told Commercial Risk Europe.
He is a qualified solicitor and has held several senior positions since joining Zurich in 2012.
Thornberry succeeds Ian Thompson, who left Zurich at the end of last year to pursue opportunities outside the group.
Revealing the appointment on LinkedIn, Signorelli said: “Today we announce the great news that Tom Thornberry is Zurich’s new group chief claims officer. Claims is at the heart of what we do as a business, and under Tom’s leadership I am confident we will continue to elevate our claims technical excellence and deliver a market-leading service for our customers.”
