Risk manager finalists announced for European Risk Management Awards

A shortlist of three has also been named for the Rising Star of the Year, Risk Manager Lifetime Achievement and Innovative Insurance Programme of the Year awards. The full shortlists, including previously announced Excellence in Customer Services categories, are now complete. The winners will be honoured by joint European Risk Management Awards 2016 hosts Commercial Risk Europe and the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (Ferma), at a gala dinner in Brussels on 6 December. The awards, partnered by Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty and Generali, will celebrate risk management excellence, high achievement and innovation.hideFerma and CRE have worked closely with national European risk management associations to identify national champions for nomination. Following that process and deliberation by a ten-strong team of judges, comprising prominent members of European and international risk management associations, the finalists have now been announced. The three shortlisted candidates for Risk Manager of the year are: Olivier Moumal, director audit and risk at The Proximus Group in Belgium; Kristine Raffel, group risk manager at CPH, Copenhagen Airports Ltd in Denmark; and Heljo Laukkala, vice-president, corporate risk management at Finnish firm Metso Corporation. Rising Star of the Year finalists are: France's Phillipe Cotelle, risk manager at Airbus; Spain's Elena Gil, risk manager at INECO; and Pauline Davoust, risk manager at Gate Group in Switzerland. Up for the Risk Manager Lifetime Achievement award are: the Czech Republic's Jana Bicanová, risk manager at Česká telekomunikační infrastruktura a.s; Germany's Hans Jörg Schill, risk manager at Airport Assekuranz Vermittlungs-GmbH; and Spain's Ignacio Martinez de Baroja, risk manager at HISPASAT. Innovative Insurance Programme of the Year finalists are: Michael Dehert, risk manager at The Brussels Airport Company in Belgium; Czech Republic's Branislav Lacko, risk project analysis at Technical University of Brno; and Spain's Luis Ros Arnal, risk manager at ENAGÁS. Commercial Risk Europe and Ferma would like to congratulate all finalists. Since the awards were launched in May, there have been more than 80 nominations. It is therefore a significant achievement to reach this stage in proceedings. There will be 14 individual award categories recognising risk management and transfer partner industry excellence and innovation. A group of respected risk managers has chosen the shortlists and will decide the eventual prizewinners, to ensure that these awards are for risk managers and decided by risk managers. The shortlists for the Excellence in Customer Services category, which aims to reward innovation among firms providing risk and insurance managers with key services, were also recently announced. The shortlist for these awards is as follows: Captive Management Solution of the Year AIG Willis Towers Watson Zurich Insurer Innovation of the Year AGCS AIG Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and SBB Insurance AG Broker Innovation of the Year Aon Arthur J Gallagher Marsh Emerging Risk Solution of the Year AIG AXA Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Global Programme of the Year AIG International SOS Zurich Technological Innovation of the Year AXA MATRIX Risk Consultants Munich Re & Beazley RSA & MSM Software Solved Zurich Claims Innovation of the Year AIG Chubb Crawford & Company Insurance Leader of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards are also up for grabs in the Industry Leadership category. These winners will be announced in Brussels. Ferma president Jo Willaert said: "Ferma is keen to support initiatives that will further raise the profile of the profession and give badly needed recognition for excellent work that often is not seen in the wider business world. We encourage individual risk managers and the wider risk and insurance community to become involved in this excellent initiative."
